August Update
👋 Hey! We’re back with a quick update on more of what’s new! ✨
More VPS Locations!
🌏 We’ve added a bunch of new locations for VPS hosting so that you can be even closer to your users. When we launched the VPS service last October the following locations were available:
- Washington D.C.
- Dallas, TX
- San Francisco, CA
- Singapore, Singapore
- Frankfurt, Germany
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- London, United Kingdom
We’re now happy to announce that you can get a VPS hosted in all of those locations and 6 new ones:
- Newark, New Jersey
- Toronto, Canada
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Tokyo, Japan
- Mumbai, India
- Sydney, Australia
These additional locations are the result of our bringing Linode on board as one of our providers. We’ve also been accepted as a Platform Builder into the Linode Partner Program! 🤝
More PHP Versions!
🧟 PHP 5.x reached its end-of-life at the end of 2018 so when we launched Opalstack last year in April 2019 we decided that we wouldn’t include it on the platform, opting to launch only with PHP 7.3 which was the newest version available at that time.
Over the past year we’ve had many requests for other PHP versions. Some of you asked for older versions to support legacy apps and some of you requested newer versions for bleeding-edge projects. We’re excited to announce that we’re giving you both! 🎉🎉
You can now set the version of your PHP applications to any of the following:
- PHP 5.6
- PHP 7.3
- PHP 7.4
- PHP 8.0 (alpha)
We’re pulling these additional PHP versions in for you from the excellent Remi Repo and we expect to be able to make newer versions available to you when they are published there in the future.
